Types of Holiday Park Accommodation
Britain's holiday parks have come a long way since the no-frills carry-on-camping style chalets of the past, having maintained their popularity for many years despite competition from package holidays abroad. When you consider the wide range of accommodation now on offer, it's not surprising that the parks have remained such a popular choice for families. Although varying in quality, each style of accommodation is designed with comfort and convenience in mind.
Chalets, Lodges and Bungalows
Chalets and lodges, whether of brick or wooden construction, are designed as a home from home for every size of party from couples to large families. The smaller studio-style properties may feature a basic bedsit layout, but there are larger chalets frequently offering as many as 7 separate bedrooms. Spacious, comfortable living areas come with TV and DVD player and often a separate dining area, whilst kitchens are fully equipped with all modern appliances. Outside the chalet you can often expect a verandah or a small garden where children can play and larger properties may even have a barbecue. As with all accommodation, you get what you pay for, and some of the premium lodges will offer special touches such as luxury furnishings, fixtures and fittings and even a sauna to make your stay a little more special.
Hotel Rooms
Holiday parks no longer expect customers to stay in camping-style chalets and tents, and many offer a luxury alternative for those who still want to enjoy the on-site entertainment whilst opting for the best standards of accommodation. Many of the UK's holiday parks have been developed around historic buildings in beautiful settings. These have been tastefully furnished as character hotels and offer everything from singles, twins and double bedded rooms with ensuite bathroom to luxury suites with compact living areas combined. The style of the hotel will of course vary from site to site and most websites will have images of hotel rooms for customers to view before booking.
Mobile Homes
The mobile homes that now feature in Britain's holiday parks are great fun to stay in and excellent value for money. They offer all the modern touches found in a chalet, yet still maintain a traditional camping feel. Families opting for a mobile home can expect something larger and more spacious than a caravan, with separate sleeping accommodation, fully equipped kitchens and appliances including TVs, DVDs, microwaves, fridges and full-sized cookers. As with all accommodation options, mobile homes vary in quality and are normally available in a range of sizes, to cater for large families as well as couples. They often feature additional outdoor facilities, including a garden area with tables and chairs, and a barbecue.
Tents
The quality of camping tents on offer at the holiday parks takes much of the stress and inconvenience out of traditional camping. There's no need to erect your tent, as it will be already set up for the duration of the season. Tents are of sturdy construction and many come with electric lighting and powerpoints. Inside, you can expect a high standard of living accommodation which often includes separate bedrooms with mattresses, basic kitchen facilities and a fridge. Although some tents have chemical toilets, you will of course be expected to use communal facilities for washing and showering.
