Wookey Hole Caves, Wells. One of the largest cave networks in the UK, Wookey Hole Caves have been transformed into a fully-fledged family tourist attraction. Here, visitors can take tours around the fascinating caves and caverns, see King King and the Valley of the Dinosaurs, visit a fairy garden and a magical mirror maze, or just relax with a bite to eat at the Big Top Restaurant. A cave museum, hall of mirrors, Victorian penny arcade and youth circus are some of the other attractions on offer at Wookey Hole Caves.
Dunster Castle, near Minehead. This castle, whose history dates right back to Norman times, is a great place for kids to explore and let their imaginations run wild. Set in beautiful gardens packed with wildlife, the castle features secret passages and plenty of nooks and crannies to investigate. Visitors can learn about the bats that flap about the passages after dark, and the wildlife that inhabits the gardens, making a trip to Dunster Castle educational as well as fun.
Brean Leisure Park, Brean Sands. The perfect spot for a fun-filled family day out, Brean Leisure Park is chock-full of thrills and spills. There are over 40 rides to be found here, from white knuckle roller coasters to gentle river boat and pony rides. A water park with pools and water chutes is the perfect place for splashing around on sunny days, whilst indoor shows for all ages mean that even rain won't spoil a day out here.
Cheddar Caves and Gorge, Cheddar. The magnificent Cheddar Gorge boasts the largest inland cliffs in the UK, and a visit here is a must for families on holiday in Somerset. Families can walk along the clifftop paths, explore the cave networks and learn about how cavemen survived here in ancient times. An open-top bus transports visitors up to the top of the gorge – keep an eye out for Peregrine Falcons on the way!
Court Family Country Park, Weston-Super-Mare. Kids can really get back to nature with a visit to Court Family Country Park. This award-winning family attraction allows visitors to experience life on a working farm; with tractors to ride on, friendly animals to pet, and sometimes even baby lambs and goats to bottle feed. Play barns, a 'maize maze' and a milking show add to the attractions at Court Family Country Park.
