Business Security Systems - A Safe Home Away from Home

We all like to believe that we’re safe when we lock our doors and windows at night to go to bed. We have taken the basic precautions of good locks, maybe an alarm system and some motion sensor lights outside. The same concepts apply to where we stay when we are away from home. The management must see the hotel and property in sectors, or layers of security, each contributing to one of the specific elements of their guests’ safety: Deterrence, Prevention, Containment and Protection. Let’s start with Deterrence. Most burglaries are carried out by opportunistic thieves. They are looking for somewhere easy. Easy to get in. Easy to stay undetected. Easy to get out. The hotel should appear difficult to get into and the criminal will look elsewhere.

Business security systems can alert the management and staff to anyone attempting to enter where or when they shouldn’t. The motion sensor lights will come on and illuminate their activities every time someone approaches. No criminal wants to be seen climbing over a wall or fence. A high tech addition to this is of course, CCTV cameras showing the entire outside perimeter of the wall or fence. They can be set so that they begin recording whenever someone activates one of the motion sensors. This means the hotel will have a record of every person or vehicle that goes near the building. With a small sign that announces the security system, they have already deterred of good proportion of potential thieves.
